Learning Centers

Each CCV location has a Learning Center where students can get individualized assistance with a variety of items, including:

  • writing – across the curriculum and through the Seminar in Educational Inquiry course;
  • math – through the Mathematical Concepts course, with additional assistance with quantitative reasoning skills, e.g. reading graphs and charts, making estimates;
  • computer literacy – use of software such as word processing, spreadsheets, Powerpoint, etc.;
  • CCV’s Blackboard portal navigation – college information, resources and services;
  • online learning – assistance with Blackboard features used in both online and on-the-ground classes;
  • Hartness Library – basic library skills to enable CCV students to access books, full-text articles, and online reference resources;
  • research techniques and citation – instruction in the appropriate use of resources in academic research and writing;
  • strategic classroom support – academic supports such as PLATO Learning Systems, eTutoring, and online resources;
  • referrals to professional librarians and other experts to assist with specific needs.
