Career Development

Exploring Career Options

Career development is a three-part process consisting of:

  • Self-Assessment to help you define your skills, strengths, values and interests;
  • Career Exploration to help you match assessment results with career paths that fit;
  • Decision-Making Information to help you with resume writing, interview skills and the job search.

Self-assessment skills are offered through courses and workshops that help you define your strengths and interests. Courses help you develop both general and specific job-related skills.

Career exploration happens through field experiences and service learning as well as certain courses, such as Career & Life Planning, that have this as a specific objective. Guest speakers, faculty working in their fields, and other students are also valuable sources of information.

Academic advisors, workshops and courses help you make informed decisions and set appropriate goals. And the critical thinking skills that are a goal of every CCV course will be a great help in planning and preparing for a career.

Partnerships

Through partners such as Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) and the Vermont Department of Labor (VT DoL), CCV offers access and referrals to specific, direct employment services.

CCV Connections

CCV Connections is a web based database of jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities available to students, alumni and employers.

EMPLOYERS
Thank you for your interest in sharing internship, employment, and volunteer opportunities with CCV’s students and alumni. We invite you to establish your organization as an approved employer in Connections, the Community College of Vermont’s career opportunity database. Once your organization has been approved as a prospective employer, you can regularly post all positions; postings are unlimited and free. The Connections Employer Presentation walks you through the process of getting established on the database.
