Apply now for Summer 08/Fall 08/Spring 09 Financial Aid

There is no time like the present!

Apply now for grants and loans for 2008-09 semesters, beginning with summer 2008. Your financial aid must be in place for registration. It is a good idea to complete your financial aid as early as possible - the best time is now!

1. Gather the documents you'll need

• 2007 federal taxes and W-2's (yours and your parents if you are applying as a dependent student );
• Statement of 2007 benefits including Social Security, TANF, child support and other untaxed income.
• Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) PIN number. This serves as your electronic signature for filing the FAFSA and speeds up the application process. If you don't have a PIN, apply for one at www.pin.ed.gov. If you are applying as a dependent student, one of your parents should have a FAFSA PIN number as well.

2. Complete the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid

This is the primary application for all types of financial aid, including the federal Pell Grant and student loans.

• Apply on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
• In Step 5, be sure to list the CCV school code 011167 .
• Hit the SUBMIT button and also be sure to print a copy of your your application AND the confirmation page.
• If you do not have online access at home, you are welcome to use CCV's computers or request a paper version of the FAFSA at your nearest CCV location.
• If you filled out a FAFSA in 2007-08, much of that information will pre-fill in your 2008-09 FAFSA. Information on the FAFSA website will provide you with information on the "pre-fill" option.

3. Complete the 2008-09 CCV Financial Aid Application

This form provides us with some additional information, including your enrollment plans for the year. Print it off, complete it, and give it to the financial aid counselor at your site.

4. Vermont resident? Apply for a Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) Grant

If you are a Vermont resident, apply for the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) Grant. It's fast, it's easy, and could provide you with additional grant funds!

Not a Vermont resident? Check with your home state higher education agency regarding possible state grant opportunities.

5. What's next?

After you have completed these steps, make an appointment to see the financial aid counselor at your site to:

• answer any questions;
• discuss your eligibility;
• and make sure your financial aid is on track for the upcoming semester.
