Bill Morrison, Chair, Business and Accounting Committee

The summer of 2004 saw the arrival of a warm front in the Northeast Kingdom. His name is Bill Morison, and neither CCV nor the community of Newport has been the same since. With his genuine belly laughs, infectious sense of humor and diligent work, Bill has been instrumental in the growing enrollment of the Newport site, as well as the College’s business program, online services and community connections.

After graduating from the Whitemore School of Business and Economics at UNH with his bachelor’s in Business Administration, Bill spent the next 20 years working in a half dozen different business environments, ranging from the production of undersea fiber-optic telephone cable to automotive weatherstrip to computer-based order selection systems used in warehouse distribution centers. In each environment, Bill progressed through the ranks, holding a variety of positions – machinist, supervisor, engineering technician, product manager, sales manager, division manager, and operations manager.

Despite his extensive experience in the workforce, Bill returned to school in the mid 1990’s, earning an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. He began teaching as an adjunct at SNHU shortly after graduation. After teaching at Lyndon State College for a couple of summers, Bill and his wife Donna decided to move to northern Vermont in 2004 when Bill accepted a position as Academic Coordinator for CCV’s Newport site.

In addition to managing the Business, Accounting and Administrative Management programs, Bill teaches Small Business Management, Office Accounting I, and Effective Workplace Communication. With the help of the business and accounting committee, Bill created the first 2-year capstone course for the business program, Business Analysis and Decision Making. “His most recent innovation, the online design of an entirely new Business capstone course will offer CCV students the most current thinking about business practices, while offering maximum accessibility and exposure to applied information technology” says Associate Academic Dean Rebecca Werner.

Bill’s life outside of CCV is every bit as rich and full. “I have four grown children – Karen, Anthony, Peter and Nathan – of whom I am extremely proud,” says Bill. He and Donna have happily settled into their new home in Newport Center, and spend their time skiing at Jay Peak, sailing, and enjoying all that the Northeast Kingdom has to offer. An avid bicyclist, Bill bikes to work 2-3 times a week and completed three century rides last year. “I’m looking forward to many more years with my new friends and colleagues at CCV, and I look forward to continuing my work developing and marketing our great business, accounting and administrative management degrees to the people of Vermont.”
