Introduction to College Studies

Attention Central Vermont High School Students

Are you interested in taking Intro to College Studies? Have your options for doing so felt too far away? Check out the new ICS class offered on the campus of VTC on Mondays from 3:30-5:30, beginning on September 26. And if you take advantage of this great opportunity in the fall, you’ll be ready to take a special section of Intro to Psychology offered at Whitcomb High School in the spring, or another course of your choosing at any CCV location. A free course for high-school students

CCV offers Introduction to College Studies (ICS) in each CCV academic center each semester.

This free, non credit course helps you develop skills and strategies for college success. You'll learn about:

  • Note and test taking.
  • Study and communication skills.
  • Time and stress management.
  • Goal setting and organizational skills.
  • Financial aid
    …and more.

Many schools offer high-school credit for successful completion of this class. If you successfully complete Introduction to College Studies while you are still in high school, you may be eligible to apply for a voucher to take one free course at Castleton State College, Community College of Vermont, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College, Vermont Technical College, or other partner colleges. Click here for information on how to use your voucher to register for your free course.

Students will receive and complete voucher applications as part of the Introduction to College Studies class. Voucher applications are also available at all CCV academic centers.

To enroll in the class
• Fill out an application form at www.ccv.edu/apply
• Call or visit your local CCV academic center and ask to be registered for the section of Introduction to College Studies that you want.
