Objectives

The objectives of this tutorial are to explain and demonstrate the tools available to you within your Blackboard course site. Along with a basic overview of each tool there is a practice activity and a self-quiz. You may retake the quizzes and self-tests until you receive a passing score.

This tutorial will enable students to:

  1. Identify the web addresses for CCV's public website and Blackboard portal and describe the content differences between them.

  2. Demonstrate the ability to log in to the Blackboard portal and WebServices, and review accuracy of personal contact information.

  3. Practice navigation of the Blackboard portal by accessing multiple tabs and entering a courseroom

  4. Examine ways of accessing courseroom content (e.g., detailed view, course map, breadcrumb trail) to ensure complete review of course materials and College information (e.g. CCV Help Center, WebServices, Blackboard Tutorials, VSC Help Desk).

  5. Discuss common communication options in online learning (e.g., personal email link in Blackboard, Messages feature, Collaboration area/chat, Discussion Board).

  6. Differentiate the role of the forum, thread, and reply/quote in the Discussion Board, discuss appropriate content and etiquette for the Discussion Board.

  7. Examine ways to complete an assignment (e.g., Assignments feature, Digital Dropbox, Discussion Board, email).

  8. Examine ways to complete tests and quizzes.
