New Facility in Winooski

About the Building

Construction on Community College of Vermont¹s new Chittenden County facility on a 1.8 acre parcel of land at the corner of East Allen Street and Abenaki Way in Winooski is now underway. Click here for a map.

The new 65,000 square foot facility will accommodate 35 classrooms, including 4 science labs, 3 art studios, a learning center, and office space for administrative and student services. When CCV takes occupancy in the late spring of 2010, this facility will serve more than 2,000 students who currently enroll at CCV in Chittenden County. View a current photo of the building project.

The property is currently owned by private developer Ray Pecor of Burlington, who financed the land purchase and worked closely with the City of Winooski to purchase the five existing lots and ready the consolidated parcel for construction.

Funded as a capital investment approved by the VSC board in 2007, this $17 million project is part of a $72 million construction effort by the VSC that includes construction projects at all five state colleges. CCV will pay for this facility without charging additional fees to students.

The building materials will include Vermont manufactured brick, quartzite
sandstone and membrane roof. The College¹s goal is for the facility to
achieve a Silver LEED environmental rating.

Ground Breaking

More than 60 people attend the ground breaking on September 9 for CCV's new facility in Winooski. Breaking ground were Governor James Douglas, Vermont State Colleges Chancellor Robert Clarke, CCV President Tim Donovan, CCV Regional Director of Operations Elmer Kimball, CCV Academic Regional Director Dee Steffan, Winooski Mayor Michael O¹Brien, Architect Tom O¹Brien of Northern Architects, Construction Manager Jerry Dunbar of E.F. Wall and Associates, and Vermont State Colleges Trustee Gordon Winters.
