When do classes start?
Spring 2012 classes start the week of Monday, January 23.

Where is my class?
The first week of classes, classroom locations will be on the digital monitors throughout the building. In addition, here is a printable Spring 2012 Classroom Assignments worksheet. Have a class that's held off site? Look here to find directions.

    UVM’s Photography Co-op is located at the Living/Learning Center (633 Main Street, Burlington). The Living/Learning Center is made up of 6 buildings and the Co-op is located in the center “Commons” building on the second floor in room 218. Depending on where you enter the building, you may be entering on the second floor. The Photo Co-op’s phone number is (802) 656-4149.

How do I change my schedule?
Before classes begin, you can adjust your schedule as long as the class you want is not full and you are academically eligible for the course. Contact the on-call advisor (802-654-0505) or your advisor. If you think you need to make a change after the first day of class, you will need to meet with an on-call advisor immediately (802-654-0505). Contact the business office at 802-828-2800 if you need to adjust your payment plan after adding, dropping, or switching a class and refer to the refund policy for information about dropping a course.

How do I purchase a parking pass? How do I purchase a bus ticket?
Go to the Parking and Transportation Servicesto register for a parking pass. If you are a Financial Aid student, stop by the Financial Aid Office (Suite 103) to see if you are eligible for a parking pass voucher. In addition, CCV Winooski sells discounted 10-ride passes. Ask at the front desk for more information.

Where do I buy my books? Spring textbooks will be available on January 2. To look up your books by class, go to UVM Bookstore web site . Textbooks for classes at CCV Winooski can be purchased at the University of Vermont bookstore in the Dudley Davis Student Center (590 Main Street, Burlington; 802-656-3290). Books for all other CCV courses, including ONLINE courses, are available at www.ccvbooks.com. Textbook costs vary, but you should plan to pay an average of $100 per course for your books. If you are a financial Aid student, stop by the Financial Aid Office (Suite 103) to see if you are eligible for a book voucher.

How do I get my Student ID card?
Each semester, all enrolled students receive a CCV Identification Card. If you don’t have one, stop by
the front desk to get one. Your student ID may be used for discounts at some local businesses.

How do I log on to CCV computers and CCV Portal?
If you are a new student, you need to activate your account so that you can access the CCV Portal and Web Services. Access the Portal website at portal.vsc.edu. Click on the link next to ‘New User?’ to activate your account. You will create a password and be given a username, which you will need to access the Portal in the future (keep track of them in a secure location). If you already have activated your Portal account, but are having login trouble, click on the link for ‘What's My User Name?’ or follow the instructions under ‘What's My Password?’

Do I have to do anything before class starts?
Some classes will have required pre-class assignments. In addition, you may have to purchase materials and/or computer supplies before class begins. To find this information, log into the Portal website and click on each Course under ‘My Moodle Classes’ (center of your portal page). Don’t panic if your course is not listed; courses are made available by individual instructors. Check your Web Services Course Schedule to confirm registration.

What if I need to miss a class?
Attendance is taken in all CCV classes and will count as a part of your grade. Each instructor sets the
attendance policy for his or her class and two or more absences may result in a failing grade. Know the attendance policy for each of your classes. This information is in the course description. If you have to miss a class, contact your instructor before the class, if possible, and find out what you need to do to be prepared for the next class. Your instructor can be contacted via email using this sequence: firstname.lastname@ccv.edu.

Where can I use a computer?
Computers are available for student use in room 112. Computers in rooms 304, 305, 310, and 311 are available when there is no class in session. The MAC lab (room 303) is only available to students enrolled in courses meeting in this lab. CCV computers are not available for recreational purposes (personal e-mail, chatting, games, etc).

What if I need help with my homework?
The Learning Center (2nd floor, room 211) is home to free tutors, available on a drop-in basis. In addition, all CCV students have access to free online tutoring through eTutoring.org.

Where can I find the Student Planner and what’s in it?
You can ask an advisor or stop by the front desk to pick up your own copy. Important CCV policies are explained and you can find deadlines (financial aid and registration, last day to drop, beginning, and end of semester, CCV events, etc). Manage your time, homework, and commitments using the planner.

How do I find out who my academic advisor is?
Your advisor will be listed under your contact information when you log in to the Portal. You can
email him/her from within ‘Web Services.’

What if I want to request accommodations for a disability?
Please contact either Lisa Haskins (654-0517) or Richard Martin (654-0526) for more information. It is very helpful to start this process before the semester begins.
