Making a Decision

Q. Should I go to an interview?

A few colleges require an interview, but at many of them an interview is optional. We recommend that you go to an interview for two reasons—first, it’s a great opportunity to get information about the college, and secondly, your personality and perspectives can come across better in an interview than on paper. This could give you an advantage in the application process.

Q. ALL of the schools I’ve applied to have accepted me. How do I decide?

It’s time to celebrate–your preparation paid off. Make a list of pros and cons of each school. Discuss your options with advisors, family, friends, and other students, but try to make your ultimate decision based on your own needs and interests. If you still can’t decide, plan another visit.

Q. What if I’m not accepted at the school I want most to attend?

Ask the admissions office why you weren’t accepted and whether you can apply again. Consult with your advisor about other options.
