Community College of Vermont Previews: An e-Newsletter for Future CCV Students

Getting Started at CCV

Just follow these 3 easy steps...

Step 1: Apply.
Complete an admissions form first. This is your application to CCV and it is quick, easy, and free! Apply online today.

Step 2: Submit College Transcripts.
If this is your first time at college, you can skip this step. If you have attended college in the past and plan to use financial aid or work towards a degree, you will need to have official transcripts sent from each previous college. In some cases, students with college credit can have assessments waived by an academic advisor. More information.

Step 3: Assessments
Your last step is to take basic skills assessments. Most new students will take four assessments—two in English and two in math (Sorry, no calculators!). There is no time limit, but plan about 30 minutes for each of these multiple-choice tests. Contact your local CCV office to find out when you can take them.

Don’t worry! Just take your time and do your best on the assessments. Regardless of your score, you can be a student at CCV. We will use your scores to help you choose the right classes so you'll be challenged, but not overwhelmed. In some cases, this means taking one or more of our pre-college level courses to help you get ready to be successful in the college classroom.

Three steps. That’s it. Once you’ve finished these, you’ll receive a letter of acceptance and be ready to sign up (or “register”) for your first classes. You can register online for spring courses starting November 28. The sooner you register, the better your chances of getting the schedule you want. If you have questions, stop by or call your nearest CCV location. We’re here to help you.
