Scholarship Opportunities


NEXT GENERATION SCHOLARSHIP

If you are a Vermont resident, and if this spring will be your first semester as a CCV degree student (registered for 6 - 12 credits), or your first semester as full-time (12 credits) degree student, apply now for a Next Generation Scholarship that could cover up to 50% of your CCV tuition through completion of your associate degree at CCV.

Recent high school graduates are encouraged to apply! Guidelines are outlined on the scholarship application form, which is also available at all CCV locations. Applications will be reviewed as received. Priority will be given to students who submit an application by August 21, 2009.

CCV SCHOLARSHIPS

CCV awards a number of scholarships each year to assist students in meeting their educational expenses. For most of these scholarships, you must be enrolled as a degree student and have earned 12 credits at CCV. Check with your academic advisor or a financial aid counselor to get more details about applying for these scholarships and to find out about deadlines for the fall and/or spring semesters.

Apply now for a CCV Spring 2010 Scholarship (pdf) from one of the following funds. Application deadline is November 6, 2009.

David C. Chabut Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded on a rotating basis at each of the five Vermont State Colleges, and in 2009-10, that will be at CCV. The award will go to a student who has completed at least 24 credits, has a grade point average of at least 3.2, is a Vermont resident, has demonstrated financial need, and is pursuing studies in business, economics or political science. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to community service.

Agnes Lindsay Scholarship
CCV awards a number of scholarships each year through the Agnes Lindsay Trust. Recipients must live in a town with a population fewer than 5,000 and demonstrate financial need.

C.V. Starr Scholarship
This award is designated for students who can demonstrate financial need.

Hackett, Valine, and MacDonald Scholarship
This award is given to students who show special promise in attaining their educational goals.

Leah M. Kalb Memorial Fund
CCV has established the Leah M. Kalb Memorial Fund in memory of former President Kenneth Kalb's wife, Leah. The scholarship, awarded each year for which funds are available, benefits a female student who is at least 30 years of age and is pursuing an associate degree with a business-related concentration.

New Generation Scholarship
Students who graduate from CCV with a two-year degree are eligible to apply for this scholarship, which helps fund enrollment in a four-year program at one of the four other Vermont State Colleges

Olin Scott Fund
This scholarship is made possible through the Olin Scott Trust Funds and benefits male students attending CCV in the Bennington site.

President's Scholarship
The President's Scholarship is supported through gifts and contributions to the College and used to assist academically promising students in meeting their educational expenses for one semester.

Urban and Pauline Bergeron Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for a Chittenden County student who can demonstrate financial need, has good academic standing at CCV, and has lived in Vermont for 10 years or more.

Hunter Dandridge Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, funded by the Bergeron Family Foundation, is established in memory of former Burlington High School student Hunter Dandridge. It will be awarded each year to a Burlington High School graduate who will enroll at CCV beginning the summer or fall after high school graduation. The award is $2,500 per year and will cover tuition and fees for one semester for a full-time student, or it can be spread throughout the year for a part-time student. Chadwick Family Scholarship
This scholarship is for a Chittenden County female student with children who is married or previously married.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship Assistance Fund
The College maintains a Scholarship Assistance Fund, which provides funds for designated awards, which may be restricted geographically, by special areas of interest, or by other criteria. These awards are determined by site staff as funds become available.

Textbook Assistance Fund
Students in need of financial assistance with their course textbooks can request funding from this source through the site staff.

Alumni Scholarship
Funded by alumni gifts, this scholarship is awarded each year to a CCV graduate who plans to continue on for a bachelor's degree. Applications are due this year by April 24. Application form

Valedictorian/Salutatorian Tuition Waiver
Students who have graduated number one or two in their high school class are eligible for a tuition waiver at any of the five Vermont State Colleges. One does not need to be a recent high school graduate to qualify for this waiver, but you cannot have already earned a baccauleaurate degree at any higher education institution.

Rise to the Challenge Voucher
This voucher provides tuition for one CCV course to all Vermont high school students who have completed the Introduction to College Studies course. The program is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education for a limited time only and covers course tuition at any of the Vermont State Colleges. Applications will be provided to students during the ICS course.

Vermont Endowment Challenge Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students who have financial need and who have demonstrated ability to succeed academically.

Vermont State Colleges Student Association Leadership Scholarship
The VSC Student Association chooses at least one student annually from each of the five Vermont State Colleges to receive its Leadership Scholarship.

Scholarships Sponsored through the Vermont State Colleges
Additional scholarships are made available to all VSC students, with no guarantee that a student from a particular college will be chosen. These scholarships include the Shorey-Harvey Scholarship (for students interested in education).

The College may also award additional scholarships as funds become available.
