CCV Spends a Week in Mexico

January 9 –18, 2004

Art Appreciation. This study tour focused on the visual arts of Mexico, with emphasis on the abundant riches in Mexico City, Puebla, known for its exquisitely decorated pottery, and Cacaxtla, known for its prehispanic murals.

The tour included:

  • Group flight out of Boston
  • Exploration of ancient pyramids
  • Viewings of Diego Rivera murals
  • Hospitality dinner with a local family
  • Visit to Frida Kahlo’s home
  • Pre- and post-course Montpelier meetings

Instructor Kate Cleghorn has led Experiment in International Living (EIL) student and adult groups to Mexico and Spain, served as EIL’s Mexico-based language and culture program director, and provided assistance to the Other Americas photography program in Mexico. In addition to a Master’s degree in Hispanic Studies, Kate holds a Master of Fine Arts. She is a longtime CCV instructor in the arts and Spanish.
